Lake Powell~!!!

Sorry it took so long to post anything, I have just been enjoying being home and, well,...been a little lazy! You would know that by the laundry that I am still doing from a week and a half ago..AAAAGH!

Anyway, Lake Powell was, as always, awesome! This year was a little different seeing as our BOAT SUNK! To those of you who aren't familiar with boating...this is not a common occurrence. To make a long story short, we working on a problem in the motor of my dad's speed boat and couldn't get the part until morning. So we left it kind of open thinking everything that was exposed to the water would be plugged up. WRONG! At about 3:30 am, while sleeping on the top of the house boat, we smelt gas. A couple people smelt it earlier and ran down to start helping and at about 4:00 we were all on land hiking over to the next cove to find a clean spot. It was an absolutely terrifying and amazing. The gas was so close to the pilot light when we found it. It wasn't an accident or coincidence that we all survived down there. We were definitely being protected and it was awesome to experience that together! WE didn't take very many pictures of that, just one of the boat parked away from us because every time we looked at it, we felt sad. It was a boat my parents have had for years and it had lots of memories in it for us...Ohwell, thankgoodness for insurance money right?
Well, it was great anyway, we did get rained on but sometimes those are the best nights becuase it cools it down. We all piled into the houseboat and turned every possible place into a bed...Hunter slept through the whole thing while being tied to the edge of the boat! Yes, we tie Hunter to the side of the house boat...I have my reasons!
We did leave Hanna with grandma so that was hard for me, but she was so happy and cool! The longer we were there the more I realized that it was a good thing she stayed home, she's too brave for Lake Powell!
Oh and I added a new playlist of my favorite boating songs! It doesn't feel like summer until I hear the Beach Boys or Bob Marley! And I know how pathetic that sounds, but you can't help what grew up with!
Hunter and my brother Chase were buddies on this trip! He was great with him! During the day we would watch a movie or play games and ride tubes and wave runners, Hunter loved it!

So cute! I love the rash guard swimming tops, it saved me a ton of time with sunscreen application!

Yeah, Hunter lived in this life jacket for a week! You can never be too careful in my opinion!
Jon of course brought his Canoe and his favorite thing was to take it right a sunset and canoe out until it was dark and find his way back! cool but EERIE!
Hunter, just a little tanning!
Before the boat sunk!

Anything is funner when Papa is with you! Hunter loves papa and grandma so much!

And Were Off!!!

YAY!!! We're off to Lake Powell until next Thursday! Hunter is coming and Hanna is staying at grandma Harris' house! She's too adventerous for Lake Powell...good thing Hunter is still afraid to go without a life jacket, it makes me feel a lot safer! See you then!

Some funny stories!

So in the morning, if I have gotten to bed really late the night before...which is quite often, the kids will wake up and play together while mommy spends about 20minutes laying in bed mulling over the idea of getting up or not. So a couple days ago I hear Hunter riding Hanna's 4 wheeler in the house, don't ask me how he got it in there. So I think OK, just don't go down the stairs. I hear a crash and in my sleepiness, I jump out of bed thinking it WAS the stairs. Before i even get into the kitchen I hear, "Hanna that milk is too heavy for you, load it up and I'll take it to mommy." I snapped a picture of it as quickly as I could and was laughing so hard. I couldn't decide if it was Hunter riding with that full gallon of milk on the back of his ride or the picture in my head of Hanna carrying it to him that made me laugh harder. Well it was just a funny story and I really do take care of my children, I promise!

So later Hanna finally just climbed on.

AHHH thanks for finally getting my milk mommy!

So on a totally different note I need to dote on my husband for a bit!

Most of you know that Jon got a new job that allows him to work from home a lot! Well I had to run Hunter to swimming lessons last week and then run to do some errands so I left Hanna with him. I thought she'd get some good Dora watching in while he worked on the computer but I come home and see this awesome work project they did together! I thought it was so cute to take time out of his work day to play with his little 2 year old...what a cute daddy! And I wish I had the creativity he had, he can come up with the coolest projects to do with the kids! He should be the stay-at-home mom right? No I would die leaving my kids everyday but I am truly thankful for him!

Camping/ Family Reunion!

This weekend we went up to Huntsville and had our annual Harris family reunion! Like always, it was very extravagant and fun. They go all out with everything from meals to water works to the country store. It is really fun. This year the our family were in charge of the festivities so it wasn't quite as relaxing, actually quite stressful but still a blast! The night before we camped near Pine View Reservoir. It is so beautiful there. We took a walk down to the river and Hunter made us all laugh:

"So Hanna, I think I'm going to get in the water like daddy!"

He decides that dad does look pretty cool stepping in the water, he thinks he wants to try it... he gets out there, lasts about 2 seconds and...

turns right around! I had to capture the face following...

"Owie mom. That stings"

And of course I love the comforting moments afterword. Is it bad that I love it when they get hurt...most of the time... so I can cuddle them?! Oh well it's my right as a mommy!
Hanna is a very independant girl. She wanders off alot but is very confident also. This is one of the many moments where she goes and finds a peaceful spot and just relaxes. I love to watch her because I am always wondering what she is thinking.

This is the best smile I could get after camping??? Was he really going to be this ornery the rest of the day?
What a cutie! She stayed by me and didn't want to go in the water! I love it!
Me and Jon after after camping, I must admit, I brought a curling iron! I know pathetic but hey, if you're gonna camp, camp in style right?!

The reunion was packed full with Jeopardy, gunny sack races, pinatas, tug-of-war, the country store, the egg toss, the marshmallow gun fight and the best of all... the water kick ball game we invented! It was set up great. Each base was a swimming pool and the home base was a slipping slide! I could not resist taking a picture of MaryAnn sliding into home! Everyone loved it!

The 4th of July

PARADES, FIREWORKS & FAMILY TIME!
What else is there in life right???
This weekend was crazy...fun, but crazy!
Thursday was the annual Riverton Parade. Friday was the ward cookout, family time at grandma Harris' house and out to dinner with just us that night! Then Saturday was boating with the Ostler fam! Crazy packed weekend! But so FUN!
Poor Hanna was stuck in her carseat during the whole parade. She actually did OK with all the taffy we loaded in front of her! I have never seen her so hyper. It was hilarious when we got home. She would stand in the family room and run full throttle straight into the love sac in our room, funniest thing ever!

I love this picture with Hunter and my Dad. It is just like them. My dad teaching Hunter something funny to say and Hunter showing his nod of approval.

Grandma Harris made these yummy cupcakes when we came over, I wish I could take the credit for them they were so good!

Hunter seeems to think so too, he had 5 of them!

So for the rest of the 4th we were finishing our landing in our house and Hunter went to get Mommy's tool box so he could help. Jon pulled out this old peice of wood and helped him hammer in all the protruding nails. What a good worker we have!
And finally that night we got some or our own family time! I do love visiting family but there is nothing like coming home and spending time with "Just us" at the end of the day! We went out to dinner at Jordan Landing and lit fire works that night!

So Saturday we went boating... and Jon bought a new toy! I didn't get a picture of it but it is a new Canoe! He was so excited to bring it to the lake with us! Yeah, so excited that he made me and Hunter go out with him as soon as we got there and he...tipped us! It would have been ok if I wasn't still wearing my clothes, ugh! Oh well, it was fun and the kids had ablast on the tube and just running around like crazy kids do!
-----------------------------------------------------
I couldn't resist puting in some pics of the kids playing together. I don't think there is a greater reward as a mommy than seeing your children "play nice" together! Hunter really does take care of his little sister. His favorite thing with her is waking her up in the morning. He says "good morning sweetheart" to her and she walks out holding her 2 blankets and a ride along horsey!

These are all pictures of the cabin. There is the kiss that they love, the Hanna chasing Hunter picture and the ring around the rosey picture! And do I really need to say anything about the last one, I just couldn't resist. I have got to stop posting pictures of my naked Hanna.
